Abstract

This section analytically and comparatively reviews the multiple repercussions of the Israeli war in Gaza on both Iran and Turkey. The military operation represented a watershed moment for the repositioning of these powers within the regional order. For Iran, the war represented an opportunity to strengthen its role as a strategic supporter of the resistance, exploit it as a pressure card against the normalization process, and reposition itself on the nuclear issue, despite major security and economic challenges and escalating US-Israeli pressure, especially under the second Trump administration. As for Turkey, its positions witnessed a gradual shift from balanced rhetoric to political and diplomatic escalation against Israel, driven by internal pressures and municipal elections, while seeking to preserve its intertwined economic interests with Israel.

The study also addresses the decline of Turkey's role as a mediator in the Palestinian issue, compared to the growing role of Iran through regional proxies. It also examines the impact of the war on major regional projects, such as energy and transportation corridors, and geopolitical conflicts in the Eastern Mediterranean. This study highlights that the war has revealed the extent to which political and security considerations overlap with the economic interests of regional actors, making their positions more complex and volatile regarding the conflict, given the reshaping of the regional order and the decline of traditional American hegemony.
